Chess Robotics Challenge
Designed and developed a two-phase robotics competition built around a chess-inspired mini-game
About the Project
Designed and developed a two-phase robotics competition built around a chess-inspired mini-game on a 6×6 board using two 4-DOF Waveshare RoArm M2 arms with electromagnetic end-effectors. Phase 1 (Simulation): teams implement game reasoning, ArUco-based board perception, and arm move execution in ROS 2 + Gazebo. Phase 2 (Hardware): 16-team double-elimination bracket; robot autonomously perceives, reasons, and executes on a physical arena via overhead 1080p camera. Evaluated full-stack robotics integration: sim-to-hardware transfer, autonomous game logic, robust perception, and safe human-robot collaboration.
